Welcome to Silver Patronus! If you're a Harry Potter fan, than chances are we've got what you're looking for! Thanks for enrolling, but before you start posting you'll need to go over our school rules. You don't want a detention, now, do you? Remember, if you don't follow the rules you may be warned, have your posting suspended, or you may even be permanently expelled from the school. And if you should ever become confused or have any questions about these rules, don't hesitate to ask a Prefect, or even a Professor! They'd be happy to help.

Here's a quick rundown of School Rules. Please remember to follow them at all times.


Cursing/Bad Language : Swearing of any kind is not permitted at Silver Patronus. So if you want to talk like a sailor, take it somewhere else. We've blocked many commonly used swear words, and if you try to get past this you'll be warned. For repeat offenders the punishment becomes increasingly severe as/if it continues. This rule isn't open to discussion.

Flaming : Flaming, or insulting comments directed at another member or group, are strictly prohibited. While it's true that some joking around can be fun, when people become angry and start to attack one another they will be punished. Talking about other members is okay, but spiteful, degrading or otherwise damaging comments will be removed and the one(s) responsible for them will receive swift punishment. Flaming at the forum staff is not acceptable either. If you have any criticism, it should be posted in the Ministry of Magic forum and someone will reply to it as soon as it can be done.
When you are unsure if a comment is an example flaming, ask yourself these questions:

-If this comment were directed towards me would I find it offending?
-Would ANYONE find this offensive?


Usernames : Members are not allowed to change their own usernames. This is only for conveniance purposes, because it would get rather confusing to see "new" people every month. So, it is still possible to get your name changed, but you will have to post the request for it in the "name Change Thread."

Signatures : Please keep your signatures as short as possible. Having several images or large amounts of text will result in a verbal warning, and if the signature is not changed your signature will be completely removed for a time. A small amount of HTML is allowed, but other media code is not, including MP3.

Avatars : The maximum dimensions of your avatar is 200x200 pixels. This rule is non-negotiable.

Your House : Once sorted into your house, unless you can provide a good reason for you to be transferred into another one you are not allowed to change it. Also, you must be sorted preferably within 2 weeks of registration, but one month is permitted.

Spam : Spam can be one of many things:

- Posting the same message repeatedly on purpose
- Posting nonsense
- Going off the topic in a thread and not contributing to the discussion

Spam is not simply posting a lot. Spam is posting a lot without contributing anything and without a useful goal. If a staff member feels you are spamming, you will receive a verbal warning, and if you continue to make poor posts, you will receive warns/suspensions.

Illegal Material : The following items are banned from the forum and anyone posting them will be warned.

- Pornography/Suggestive Content. This includes any lewd poses, erotic art or writing, overtly sexual images, cleavage, revealing garments, tight clothing, and so on.
- Anything regarding hacking/illegal downloading/cracking
- Racial/Hate Images, slurs, or phrases. This includes swastikas, burning crosses, or references to the KKK. Images of political parties or persons that advocate racism or hate crimes will be dealt with harshly.
- Impersonating a member of the staff or forum. This includes using staff tags as your avatar or in your signature.
- Drug/alcohol images or discussion
- Violence/gore/weapons or discussion
- Advertising for another competing website/forum outside of your signature or advertising forum
- Selling any cards/games/movies/music/other material

If any of these rules are broken, these are the punishments that will follow. First, if a staff member sees spam, flaming, or swearing, s/he will send a message to the member responsible, reminding them about the rules, and then deleting the offending post. This is primarily for newer members who aren't used to how things are run here won't get severely punished for little things.
Three warns will result in the member being suspended from posting for a period of time. The member account might be banned from the forum, and in severe cases, the IP of the member might be banned to prevent other accounts.

If the staff finds content to be inappropriate, they have the right to remove it regardless of whether or not it is mentioned here. (It will, however, be added afterwards in that case.)

To summarize:

First offense: Verbal warn
Third offense: Minor suspensions
Further offenses: Bans/suspensions
